How to make the data maintained in massive excel sheets available and understandable for everyone
Monitoring adolescents and their progress in terms of health, education, safety, work, and participation. Since adolescents are the future building blocks of the world, it was important to get quick insights about their status and launch the appropriate measures/programmes to ensure well-being.
The entire data was being maintained in large excel sheets
Only the excel experts could apply the right filters and generate appropriate visualisations
The organisation had assigned a specific colour to each of the five clauses. Care was to be taken to use only that colour for the entire graphical work on that topic
The portal had to be responsive while catering to all the data and operations
Since this was being built for everyone, WCAG 2.0 with at least AA standard was to be maintained as far as possible
For Navigation
The entire portal along with its navigation was to be placed inside the main website.
A tertiary bar was introduced within the website to navigate within the portal
The navigation bar was made translucent. Care had to be taken while choosing the images that were to go underneath so that the contrast is maintained
For Data Visualisation
All the data was analysed to decide upon the best way to represent it through graphs and charts
Wherever the time parameter was to be considered, those data sets called for the additional effort
For a particular topic, all the charts were to be made in the same pre-determined colour, while maintaining the contrast ratio
A comprehensive country profile page was created to provide the latest data on the selected country on all the topics and subtopics
World political maps were rendered using the same colour schema to show all the data in comparision
For the interactive section
A comparison tool was built within the portal so as to allow users to compare data for different countries for a given topic
the tool was created in such a way that it could render data for different countries for all the sub-topics of a particular topic, using the same excel sheet as the source
